The Fred Cain 9 Shank 3 Point Field Cultivator, Ripper, Tillage Tool

The Fred Cain 9 Shank Cultivator is a good attachment to break new ground or to tear up the hard pan in the field. The main beams have 1 inch spacing to easily adjust the shank width. The 2 x 2 inch high carbon heat treated angles help control twisting or bending of the shanks if they hit an obstruction in the field. The shank movement is controlled by double springs, that let them kick up. The standard ground engaging points are reversible for longer use. The 5-11 Shank models are for standard Category 1, 3 point hitch.

5 of 5 works great November 6, 2020
Reviewer: eric from central minnesota
first of all everything attachments customer service was excellent, being out of the free shipping area rick went to work and had it drop shipped to help save some money on freight(about half). came LTL in a week in perfect condition.  assembly was fast and easy.  turned 12 acres this fall running 10-12 inches deep in very heavy, rocky, clay ground and it is absolutly tilled in one pass. the spring loaded trips work silky smooth with no banging or slamming and it didn't pull up the rocks like i thaught it was going to. i pull the digger with a 2655 mahindra hst in low range, 4x4, full bunny(3-4mph?). tractor was comfortably working. thanks everything attachments

5 of 5 Easy to use and works great. August 13, 2020
Reviewer: John W. from CHURCHVILLE, NY United States
Had issues breaking new ground in upstate NY.  My ground is heavy clay with plenty of rocks and roots that were beating my box blade ripper and tiller.  My MX5200 pulls the 9 shank with no issues at all with loaded R4s.  Using this on previously worked areas was easy and quick and I still was pulling up some large stones.  Using on unworked ground rips thing up easy as well.  I have a thick weed mat on the surface that gets clogged under the rippers.  Seems like a close mowing, spraying, or landscape rake helped.   The only thing that bugs me is that it isn't quick hitch compatible.  With the amount of force pulling it there may be a reason.  Made two new plots in no time.

5 of 5 Highly recommend May 12, 2020
Reviewer: Nathan Miller from Weybridge, VT United States
I purchased the 9 shank model to see if I would like the tool and the price was an amount I was willing to take a chance on. I run a commercial beef operation and will be tilling 50 acres this year using it on a JD 5105. Very pleased with performance in shallow tillage and the speed. Thinking about upgrading soon to the larger one now that I know how much I like it.
