Read Ted's Take on Skid Steer Boom Poles:
"Skid Steer Boom Poles built by Construction Attachments are the heaviest and strongest that I have ever seen. Construction Attachments started building boom poles for all of the nurseries located in what is called the Globe, NC. This area is a pocket located in Lenoir, NC, where all of the top soil has washed down from the mountains and ended up being the perfect place to grow all types of trees, bushes and shrubs. My brother first started building the straight long boom pole for skid steers with a simple design of a 7 foot long pole with a closed eye on the end. This worked well, but as always with Construction Attachments, they consulted the end users and found that another design could be implemented to improve the product for the nursery industry in particular.

The nurseries had two specific feature requests in particular that would make the work that they performed with the pole a lot easier. The first request was to change the closed eye to an open end hook so that they would be able to pick up a tree that had already been dug with out having to put the rope or chain thru the closed hoop. This speeded up the process by allowing them to simply place the already connected rope or chain in the open end hook with out having to re-tie their tree thru the closed lug. The second request led to the creation of the short curved boom pole. This design was made to allow you to hook to the pole low to the tree or bush and be able to not damage the root ball.

I have used all of these boom poles over the years. I load and unload all of my Skid Steer attachments that I receive from the manufacturers with the long straight boom pole since it is 7 feet long. With this model pole, I can reach all the way over my trailer and pluck any attachmnet I want off the trailer with out moving and unchaining any of the other attachments. Pretty convienent if you ask me!

I also set all the steel beams in my house with the long striaght boom pole. Remember that your average skid steer will lift about 10 feet and with the striaght boom pole, lifting in the craning or veritical position, it will add 7 feet of height so it actually acts like a crane. I have used boom poles for almost everything and would never own a skid steer without having a boom pole after you discover all the different applications that they can be used for.

The funny thing about the Skid Steer quick attach boom pole that I have discovered, is that you always seem to find new ways to justify adding this attachment to your arsenal! Some of the things I have used mine for, I can't even recommend that you do, but it sure did work good! "
